    One Way Street

I wrote this song in my early days as a writer, I found this tucked under some old posts. I’ve redone some lines to my liking.

    (verse one)

I’d been living in the past, trying to hide the pain
Holding on for dear life, crying in the rain
Life was a nightmare, I’d see wide awake
The loneliness and sorrow, was too much to take

Then you came along, became more than just a friend
I’d spend everyday, hoping the day would never end
And while we’d sit, we needn’t say a word
Your eyes were always begging to be heard

    (Chorus)

    I’m going fast, so fast
    Down this one way street
I hope to run into you
I hope you feel it too

    And it feels just right
    Me being here tonight
    I’m falling head over heels
Head over heels, in love with you!

    (verse two)

Would you show me some faith? What I have for you is deep
Make you mine forever, a promise I vow to keep
I finally found the reason, to turn my life around
My ship caught in the storm, has found solid ground

I wish to wake up to your lovely, radiant face
Lose myself in your charm, your cozy, sweet embrace
The more I have of you, the more I want everyday
You’ve become like a drug to me, I just can’t stay away

    (repeat chorus)

Head over heels, in love with you!

  • Beautiful misery

    Beautiful misery

Love is just wonderful, isn’t it? You feel like you can live without it, but your mind keeps coming to things you’re not ready to let go of.

    (verse one)

    When I close my eyes
I see a vision of your face
    All my troubles are gone
    Gone without a trace

And when I see your eyes
They’re all I want to see
    That one moment in time
    You set me free

    You set me free…

    (chorus)

Even though you’re so far away
I feel you are so near
Every time I think of you
    Life becomes crystal clear

You’re that breath of fresh air
    That’s keeping me alive
    Without you I don’t think
    I really can survive

    So please accept my love
And put me out of my

    Beautiful misery…

    (verse two)

Your smile is like the sweet sunshine
    It takes me high above
Your touch is all I want to feel
Something I can’t get enough of

I wish that you were close to me
    Because it hurts so bad
Being away from you so long
    You were everything I had

    Everything I had…

    (repeat chorus)

    So please accept my love
And put me out of my

    Beautiful misery.

  • Face inside my head

    Face inside my head

Ever experienced that feeling where you’d seen a pretty face that just gets stuck inside your head, and you can’t get enough of it? This is a song I wrote dedicated to that “Face inside my head”… Thanks for rocking my world!
    (Verse one)

When at first I saw you
    Kept thinking to myself
You must be one of a kind
    To be looking like that

    The first look I had
    You took my breath away
    And now I see you
In every step in every way

    (Chorus)

    Can’t stop thinking ’bout you
You’re that face inside my head
    You follow me around
When I’m awake or in bed

And I wish I was dead,
‘Coz I see heaven where you are
In the magic of your eyes, I see…
    My destiny

    (Verse two)

And my life’s just gotten better
    With you coming in
Can’t get enough of your smile
    It makes me happy within

And the color of your eyes
    Leaves me hypnotized
That cute dimple on your face
    Keeps me mesmerized

    (Repeat chorus)

    (Verse three)

    Your hair’s like the night
And your face white as day
    That joy in your voice
Keeps me happy all the way

    That glow on your face
Is unlike I’ve seen here before
    Every look in your eyes
Leaves me wanting more and more

    (Repeat chorus)

    (Bridge)
Watching you I’ve lost track of time
Your beauty’s like the sweet sunshine
Your smile is all I’ll ever need
I’m wishing that you could be mine…

    I wish I was dead,
‘Coz I see heaven where you are
In the magic of your eyes, I see…
    My destiny

    My destiny.

  • Smile, it’s worth it!

    Smile, it’s worth it!

We’ve all had bad days. Days when we just wanted to stay in bed and never get out. Or when pulling your hair out seemed less painful than what you were going through.

A song to sing on one of those days…

    (verse one)
You’ve been having a bad day
Nothing seems to be going your way
Four cups of coffee, yet your feet feel like lead
You think you woke up from the wrong side of bed?

You feel like you want to run and hide
Or quiet down and go sit outside
    But there’s a solution I’d recommend
All you need to do, is smile my friend!

    (chorus)
All you need to do is smile
    To make your life worthwhile
You won’t let go of your pain
    By crying in the rain

The days may feel so very long
Or everything just seems so wrong
    But it’s not too late
    To start feeling great…

    Just smile… It’s worth it!

    (verse two)
Your laughter’s making an awesome sound
And soon things seem to be turning around
Look there! Your troubles running out the gate
Feels like your head just lost some weight!

When it feels like you’re attached to a drain
Just smile, my friend, to ease the pain
Don’t forget, it’s magic! That beautiful smile
It can never go out of style

    (repeat chorus)

So all you need to do is smile
    To make your life worthwhile

    It’s not too late
    To start feeling great…

    Just smile… It’s worth it!

  • An ode to drinking!

    An ode to drinking!

A jolly old man’s song sung to a young man whom he meets at a bar and who wants to know the old man’s story…

I was just a kid like you
    Maybe twenty, twenty-two
A charming boy with handsomely good looks

And she was a fair, young maiden
    Sent directly down from heaven
And one look at her was all that it took

She was pretty, she was lovely
And her teeth were white and pearly
And I loved her like there wasn’t any other

But all good things come to an end
She got married to my friend
And within the next two years became a mother!

So instead of crying in the rain
Felt just right to ease the pain
With the help of some good old country liquor

Since then it’s been some thirty years
And some gin and lots of beer
And some whiskey on some ice just makes it slicker!

You can drink when you are blue
Or when you are happy too!
And you can drink when you’re bit under the weather

When you’re too hot or too cold
Or you’re too young or too old
Brandy will make you feel as light as a feather!

When you’re feeling just too bad
Or you’re happy and are glad
Go ahead and meet up with all of your friends

There is nothing like some beer
To spread the joy and cheer
Put them together and the fun will never end!

There is vodka, there is wine
And there is rum that’s just divine!
Or if you fancy a shot of tequila

You’ll be living the fancy dream
With a taste of Irish cream
Or white wine that is flavored with vanilla…

Well, now you must be thinking
That if I keep on drinking
My next drink could as well be my last

But I’m going to go someday
Then just might as well today
But for sure I’m going to go out with a blast!

Oh this is just an old man’s song
    That you’re free sing along
I’d say liquor could be man’s best friend

    You may be all alone
When all your friends are gone
It’s faithful to you right till the end!

    Right till the end…

  • I won’t write you a love song

    I won’t write you a love song

    I won’t write you a love song
    Not even a melody
For there are no words to describe
Just what you meant to me
    I won’t paint you a picture
Or put your face next to my bed
    I’ve had enough of memories
    They’re messing with my head
Your train is here, just standing still
On the tracks that lead away
My heart was your home all this time
    An empty room today;
I’m heartbroken that you have to go
Wish you could stay a while
Oh what I’d give for one more chance
    to watch this beauty smile!
    I won’t write you a love song
    Not even a melody
For there are no words to describe
Just what you meant to me
    I won’t paint you a picture
Or put your face next to my bed
    I’ve had enough of memories
    They’re messing with my head
Well I hate these prickly moments
I’d have loved to stay and hold your hand
But now every moment slips away
Like the quickness of the sand
And the cold is getting stronger
Your hand feels different in my own
Good times just have to end, don’t they?
It just hurts to say goodbye.
    I won’t write you a love song
    Not even a melody
For there are no words to describe
Just what you meant to me
    I won’t paint you a picture
Or put your face next to my bed
    I’ve had enough of memories
    They’re messing with my head
Good times just have to end, don’t they?
    It just hurts,
    To say
    Goodbye.

  • Don’t say goodbye

    Don’t say goodbye

I truly believe love lasts forever. Even though the person whom you loved the most is gone, their love is what keeps you alive.

Here’s a song I wrote dedicated to that undying love.

    (verse one)

You say it’s time to go now
You don’t mean what you say
I see it in your quiet eyes
    Tears streaming away

You’re headed off to a better place
A place for joy, for better things
To touch the sky and go beyond
To reach out and spread your wings

Smile for me, be my reason to go on…

    (chorus)

    Don’t say goodbye
    Don’t say goodbye
I’ll see you somewhere down that road again

    We’ve got to try
    Oh, don’t say goodbye
Our love will work to ease the pain

    (Verse two)

    Think of all the moments
That we’ve had, or yet to make
    All the joys, the secrets
All the nights spent wide awake

    We created many memories
See those pictures on the wall
    Faces bright and smiling
    Together one and all

Smile for me; create an everlasting moment…

    (repeat chorus)

    (Bridge)
What we had was special; no one can take it away
    I can’t forget these moments, not a single day…
Loving you was always easy, but now I have to make my peace
Remember I’ll always love you, until my sweet release

Smile for me, be my reason to go on…

    Don’t say goodbye,
    Don’t say goodbye
I’ll see you somewhere down that road again…

  • The hangman

    The hangman

A wintry day, not so long ago
Amidst the falling flakes of snow
A man was taken to the gallows
His lips were pale, his skin was sallow

But no sign of fear; no glint of sweat
No show of remorse, no hint of regret
For he was proud of what he had done
If it were left to him, he’d watch them all burn

He sneered and hissed and laughed aloud
And pointed fingers at the crowd
He cursed, he bellowed, “I will rise again,
I will be back to cause more pain!”

The hangman, he was brave and tough
Made up his mind; he’d had enough
He shouted, “Quiet, now this must end
To hell’s dark depths you must be sent”

The mad man looked him in the eye
He knew he was about to die
But he laughed away with merry mirth
The blood-curdling sound seemed to shake the earth

The noose tied tight around his head
With one fell swoop the man was dead
His legs flailing with the wind so strong
A quiet end to a life of wrong

    Another year; another night
Through the darkness pierced the light
The sun brightened up the early morn
While a woman screamed, her baby born

And as the wall clock counted five
His promise kept; he was alive
The man had risen from his tomb
He made his way to her tender womb

The baby laughed; it did not cry
You could see the evil in its eyes
His promised revenge had just begun
The hangman was now blessed with a son

The baby, his child; his son indeed
Poisoned fruit born of his own seed
The years went by; the day had come
The child knew what he needed done

The child was stronger than before
The hangman could not fathom what was in store
The child went about his killer spree
    The father hung from atop a tree;

Then the child laughed; without rhyme or reason
The madness evident in its ghastly completion
There was no remorse; no place for sorrow
A dystopia in the wake of tomorrow.

  • A journey called life

    A journey called life

    Hello, fellow traveler
    On this journey called life
You seem to be living on the edge
    Of a sharp, cold knife.

You always seem to have a plan
And in such a desperate hurry
You want more done in lesser time
But then you sit and worry

You have no time for yourself
Or for your family or friends
Your watch drives your every action
Hell, your day starts but never ends!

All you think about is profit
    Or awards you must receive
But you ignore those little things in life
That you worked so hard to achieve

It’s all about the little joys
    That makes living worthwhile
It’s those little things you care for
    A hug, a kiss, a smile!

You can’t go on living like this
    The madness has to stop
Because one day your health will go
    And your energy will drop

And all that will be left
    Is an empty shell, surrendered?
Someone who did a lot in life
    But never got remembered

No one will see who came first
At the end, it’s all the same
Life is a journey, and not a sport
Or a trophy you can claim

Live life one moment at a time
    No need to keep accounts
Because life is not a start and end
    It’s the journey that counts.

  • Getting ready for doomsday?

    Getting ready for doomsday?

We’re nearing the end, that’s what those ancient people said
If they were to be believed, we’d shortly be dead
So many years ago they predicted our fate
And apparently prophesied humankind’s expiry date.

It’s difficult to imagine, what sort of global catastrophe
Would be so severe, to mark the end of all humanity?
Are we going to drown, or burn up like hell?
Or is something going to plague us and make our bodies swell?

Would the earth explode, with one big boom?
Or would it quake and quiver to lead us to our doom?
Would we collide with some massive space thing?
Predict that, and then you’re on to something!

Till then, no one can decide when we are going to go
Heck, the Mayan’s aren’t around to say, “I told you so!”
Calm down, breathe, maybe have a drink or two,
Spend time with your loved ones, live life as you’d normally do.

Just because someone said we have only twelve days
Doesn’t mean you too have to follow the craze
Don’t be stupid and live your life in a hurry
Life is too short and precious to worry

And if they are right, and that day is truly our last
I’d enjoy it and go out with a blast!
Until then, we all just wait and see
If dead people are right about humankind’s destiny.
